JAMES IZZO
James is the Managing Principal of 1220G which provides specialized real estate services to institutional and private clients throughout the United States. 1220G focuses on providing key development and real estate advisory services to strategically add value. Its core mission is to create opportunity and realize value for its strategic business partners and clients. With more than twenty five years of experience in the real estate industry, James has successfully completed numerous development projects throughout the United States. His activities in the industry over the years have helped create landmark projects for many different groups. The various types of projects he has worked on include residential, commercial, retail, restaurant, hospitality, entertainment and healthcare. Presently, James is involved in working with universities on creating value added real estate to economically develop innovation centers. Building on his past successes with Dream Works to position their production facilities for the future. And, assisting Cedars Sinai to redevelop their healthcare campus into a modern state of the art facility. James has also helped several groups create headquarter buildings for Lawyers Mutual Insurance and modern research/production facilities for, Imaging 3, a technology firm. James also has been able to work clients through challenging finance situations to create value in their assets. Helping Catellus work through their southern California portfolio and creating value for them in repositioning the Pacific Design Center. And, also working with the LA Mart to maximize their value upon sale for their ownership. James also while working with different development groups in the Washington DC area, successfully completed several master planned residential communities and office projects. The design of these residential and office projects have earned several industry awards for innovative technology, use of space and community, quality of life enhancement.
James has over the years been involved in different commercial product types in California, Washington DC and Texas. This accomplishment includes an impressive portfolio of projects in landmark high-rise, low-rise and unique single user buildings. These projects have earned a host of real estate awards in the past two decades. In addition to this portfolio of real estate development projects, James has been responsible for financially repositioning over $3 billion of real estate equity and debt in the past 10 years throughout the United States. Through his involvement, these transactions maximized the potential returns and value for the investors and financial institutions alike. Prior to founding 1220G, James worked at Maguire Thomas Partners in Los Angeles. There he served in key roles in development and finance. Serving the company for more than ten years, he worked on a number of high profile and complex projects, such as Plaza Las Fuentes, First Interstate Bank, Gas Company Tower in Los Angeles, California and Solana in Dallas, TX. Prior to joining MTP, James worked in Washington DC with a subsidiary of Oliver T. Carr and The Milton Company developing residential and commercial projects in suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia.
James received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. He currently serves the University of Florida as an active member and is the past Chairman of the Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies Real Estate Advisory Board. He also served as an Adjunct Faculty to the Nathan S. Collier Master’s of Science in Real Estate program at the Warrington College of Business.
